New salt rooms open in Wodonga

Wodonga’s first salt rooms have opened in South St.

The family-owned and operated business are located inside Harlo and Co Salon, a business hub operated by multiple owners and comprises nine staff offering a range of services including hair, massage and beauty.

The business hub was due to open on April 6 but COVID-19 struck.

Wodonga Salt Rooms owner Jade Sparks said it was fantastic to finally open and welcome customers.

The business features three unique salt rooms with a focus on relaxation and healing.

There is an adult/family room that offers a COVID-19 safe environment for two people.

The second room is for children only and the third is a private salt room where customers can undress to get the full benefits of salt therapy.

Owner Jade Sparks said the private salt room was great for NDIS clients or those with severe skin conditions because people could be in a safe environment to take off their clothes to expose their skin.

“It’s great to be open and the feedback has been great,” she said.

“People have said it’s great to finally have something like this in Wodonga.

“This was our motivation because we want to bring more to Wodonga to keep business on this side of the Border.”

Salt therapy rooms have been popping up across Australia over the past five years and are described as a complementary therapy, designed to be used in conjunction with conventional medicine and as part of a broader plan for managing a condition and its symptoms.

Jade said salt therapy offers an effective treatment for many conditions.

“In the war days, soldiers would hide in salt caves and noticed the salt air was curing illnesses,” she said.

“Salt therapy can be beneficial for conditions such as asthma, eczema, and psoriasis, hay fever, sinusitis, colds and flu, sleep and snoring stress, anxiety and fatigue, as well as sports performance.”

The business is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.

Appointments can be made by phoning (02) 6024 4403.
